Charley & Rhys’s Oak Tree Barn wedding is about to give you all the rustic inspiration! Although it may have been their plan C wedding, it looks as though it was A+ all the way. Bringing the French Riviera to the Kent countryside (yes, it’s possible), this beautiful couple said yes to a DIY day, complete with a relaxed vibe and plenty of delicate lighting. Surrounded by oodles of greenery and nature, everything was perfectly captured by Recommended Supplier, Kelly Hiscox Photography. We are just loving the rustic yet glamorous styling, which works perfectly alongside the glorious sunny weather and pastel perfect colour scheme.

All of our suppliers were incredible. Creating our perfect day on such short notice and fitting us in during a hectic summer. Kelly (our photographer), made us feel so at ease in front of the camera - something neither of us had done before properly.
VIBE
Our vibe was very relaxed. Even when our day was due to be in the South of France, we were never planning on elaborate decor. We wanted to appreciate the beautiful setting. Oak Tree Barn is a stunning, unique venue and we didn’t want to disguise that. Our favourite decor had to be delicate lighting - hanging fairy lights and candle light. We loved the wooden look paired with candles and delicate foliage. We also had the most incredible weather and it is the most picturesque setting surrounded by greenery and nature, so we kept it simple!
ADVICE
Don’t feel like you have to do something a certain way just because that’s the norm. There were so many traditions we ditched - paper invitations, a cake, and a bouquet toss for example. Only do the things that are important to you. So many things we had planned that didn’t happen due to timing, and in the end it really didn’t matter! If you are able to have access to your venue the day before for set up, do it! We had our family and close friends help and it was so much fun.
Barn doors outside in front of an aisle? Uhm, how gorgeous!?
My dress was custom made as I had such a clear vision. One layer of French lace in honour of our original venue, one layer of scattered sequins for the sun to hit, and a detachable skirt, so I had the best of both worlds! Princessy & elegant.
