Inspiration

Now this, this is what you call chic. Pink bridesmaids suits? Hell. Yes. Amie & Matt wanted their wedding to be a reflection of who they are as people; embracing bright colours, no ties, casualness, and converses rather than heels (we can’t think of anything better). Although theirs was a winter wedding, the day consisted of bold, beautiful colours; providing a stark contrast against the warehouse vibes of Trinity Buoy Wharf. We suggest checking out the flower girl outfits too - so freakin’ cute! Oh, and we can’t forget that Colin The Caterpillar Cake. Amazing.

What Made Our Day Unique

I have short hair, and though many black brides choose to put a weave in or don a wig on their special day, for me, I just wanted a glow up of my regular look. My amazing hair stylist, Natalie, washed, chopped and styled my hair the morning of and the final look was everything I wanted. I don’t wear makeup either, so the talented Bernicia kept it minimal but effective. I really did feel like a Queen thanks to these two ladies.

Pink Bridesmaids Suits

We love something a little different! Who says bridesmaids have to wear dresses? Absolutely no one! Amie originally found (what she thought) were her bridesmaids' outfits in 2018 (ahead of the game), but decided they weren’t quite right and went on to find the stylish bridesmaids' suits you can see. As we’ve said before: it’s your day, your way! Also, a winter wedding calls for something a little warmer, so we approve of the extra coverage!

Inspiration & Styling

The vibe of our day was colourful and casual. My bridesmaids wore bright pink suits, our dads didn’t wear ties, and the beautiful venue made for a relaxed day. My dress, however, was anything but casual and I loved seeing Matthew’s reaction to this. I did wear Converses though, because who has time to wear uncomfortable heels? Our florist, Catherine, did an amazing job of adding colour to the day with the use of flowers. For a winter wedding she made it anything but! Get you a florist who really takes the time to get to know you!

A winter wedding doesn’t mean dark colours and grey tones - be true to who you are. If bright colours are your thing, then go for it. Take a look at this beautifully bold rainbow wedding decor, complete with origami flowers! If you’re looking for a more industrial vibe with lots of colours (like Amie & Matt), dive into this wedding at the West Mill
