The RMW Stepford Wives – Shirley, Amanda, Jo & Kelly.

If you didn’t check out our style sheets yesterday then you probably need to – just so you know what the hell is going on.

And if you did? sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

All of the beautiful images are courtesy of the amazingly talented Christian and Erica at Christian Ward Photography.

Jo and Amanda

As there were so many brides (there were six girls people!) we decided to pair them together and concentrate on certain looks and colour schemes for each. First up was the super sexy Amanda and the über elegant Jo whom we kept sleek, chic and understated bar a selection of look-at-me statement headpieces and accessories.

In the main we kept to a palette of grey, ivory and blue with nail polish to match (obviously). Amanda’s fingers were adorned with a cornflower shade by Maybelline whilst Jo was given a matte mid-grey by Barry M.

The lovely and ever smiley Cassandra from Love Your Hair swept Jo’s thick locks into a large ballerina bun, the perfect style to show off details of the gowns and jewels we had in store for her. Amanda on the other hand was all about the chignon and the power lip – a look few can carry off as well as she did.

Talking of lips……

Make-up Artist Chloe McCall: Matte lips are on trend this season so using Revlon Matte lipsticks in pink about it and pink pout (mixed) I created Amanda’s pink lips, I wanted a soft matte pink so this is why I mixed the lipsticks. If you can’t find the colour you’re looking for, there is nothing wrong with creating your own lipstick colour by mixing shades together. My tip is to stay within the same brand and texture of lipstick.

I created a strong eye look on Amanda using liner and lashes. I used eyeshadows from Urban Decay in Toasted and Hustle, these are from the naked pallet, a great bridal eyeshadow pallet. It’s always important to fill the brows in when making a statement on the eyes, I did this by using a product called browzing from Benefit which is a powder and a wax, created for filling in the brows so they still look natural. Make sure you use a hard angle brush when using this product to get the best results.

Amanda’s first gown was a unique silver grey number from The Couture Company paired with a huge floral headpiece from Hope and Grace (honestly it is so immense, and if not realistic head gear for a bride then maybe MOB….?).

Amanda’s second frock was from the new collection by Jim Hjelm supplied by Miss Bush Bridal. Sophisticated and understated, we paired it with a feather vintage-esque fascinator from The Couture Company for a bit of old school glamour.

Last but not least Amanda donned a figure-hugging and contemporary dress by Jesus Peiro from Miss Bush Bridal, she was accessorised with some Armani glasses and a cute acrylic necklace by Tatty Devine (lovely gifts for maids if you are yet to find anything suitable and budget friendly).

Oh and a rolling pin. Only Amanda could work kitchen equipment with such finesse.

Jo’s first dress was a simple yet awesome number by Jesus Peiro from Miss Bush Bridal, they even made us a bespoke charcoal satin sash to give it some extra wow-factor (NB: they can make you one too in a variety of colours should you fancy it).

It has pockets.

They are really quite special.

This was accessorised with the art deco earrings by Stephanie Browne at Liberty in Love (they are a long-term favourite of mine) and then a beautiful polka dotted headpiece by Rosie Willett (she made it especially for us and this shoot – how nice was that?)

Next up was an art deco influenced strapless fishtail by Alan Hannah supplied by Mamfii. We loved the button-up back. We loved the way it fitted Jo like a dream. We loved the fact that you can truss it up for full-on glamourama with pearls (Peter Lang at Liberty in Love) or with a shrug the colour of summer skies (the Minelli at Hope and Grace) and it looks delicious….yet is equally as delectable on its own.

Jo’s final gown was another Alan Hannah supplied by Mamfii – the halter neck collar was supremely flattering and due to the intricate bejeweled detail it was paired with a simple floral-inspired hair comb (the Swan Lake by Stephanie Browne at Liberty in Love) and no other adornments.

Jo’s peepers were strong and flirty whilst her pout was kept natural and glossy:

Make-Up Artist Chloe McCall: With Jo we wanted to create a dramatic smokey eye with nude pink lips – this is a very popular bridal look. To create flawless skin Mac Studio fix fluid mix with Mac face and body foundation was used mainly down the centre of the face and blended outwards. Because the look was all about Jo’s eyes I didn’t want to go too heavy with the blush colour, so Mac blusher in Melba was added to the cheek bones.

Jo has amazing lashes so I just added half lashes to the outer part of the eye. I created the grey eye by using Urban Decay Naked 2 pallet, I used verve all over the eye lid and brow bone then used pistol on the lid and mixed in a hint of Blackout and blended. Gel liner by Mac in Blacktrack was used to line the eyes.

I used Unlimited from the Pro longwear range by Mac on Jo’s Lips. I lined the lips first using No7 lip liner in Nude, this is a great colour and goes with almost everyone’s lip tone.

The original Singer sewing machines are courtesy of Adam’s Mum and the rude mugs courtesy of my Mum (go figure). The distressed table is actually my RMW HQ desk (!) from Bailey’s Home and Garden and the china, teacups, books and pretties are a small selection of RMW Lauren’s very own styling kit.

My Nana Wales supplied Jo with her pink knitting – I’m not sure my Nana had the first clue what she was creating it for exactly but seemed pleased as punch to be involved.

Shirley and Kelly

Whilst I was flicking through Grazia magazine I came across an article on entrepreneurial women, one of which was Lisa Comfort from Sew Over It. Lisa owns a little cafe in London where you can learn how to make clothes and things – perfect for an alternative hen do (more on this later) and…..she makes Betty Draper dresses!

So I dropped her an email and what do you know….a pink gingham Betty number arrives.

When I told the RMW brides it was Kelly who said shotgun first so fairs fair and all that – Tatty Devine also made us a bespoke necklace to match and I found these super cool shades at Topshop.

To fit with Kelly’s retro vibe Cassandra Rizzuto plaited her amazingly long shiny chestnut barnet into a high fishtail with plenty of va-va-volume.

Bridal-wise Kelly wore a gorgeous lace overlay gown by Jim Hjelm at Miss Bush Bridal, fitted her like a glove so it did.

Kelly’s third gown was what will be always be affectionately referred to as “the swimming hat” (aka Tara Keeley style 2012) – that kind of lovely thick material that clings in all of the right places with a fancy floral applique. This was accessorised with the Stephanie Browne “Kelly” (how appropriate) necklace and matching bracelet – it looks as fabulous down your back as it does down the front (well we think so anyway.)

Shirley’s first outfit was a very pretty chiffon cross-over flower print courtesy of high street favourite Zara. I figure that when being the perfect wife one would always wear something garden party-worthy, even to do a spot of vacuuming….. and of course wear it with some spiffy shoe candy – these are Gardenia by Harriet Wilde.

Shirley’s second gown was Suzanne Neville at Miss Bush Bridal, this lace is beyond amazing and the style really suits a petite Miss such as Madame S herself.

Shirley’s peachy nails were another Barry M special and her make-up was kept equally as feminine:

Make-up Artist Chloe McCall: Mac paint pot in bare study was used as a base all over the eye then Estee Lauder French vanilla and taupe single eyeshadows were used over the top. Estee lauder gel liner in “Stay coffee” was used on the top of the lash line and half way on the underneath lash line. By doing this with the liner it creates an open eye effect. Individual lashes were used to give volume.

Doublewear lip liner in rose by Estee Lauder was used to line the outline of the lips then Doublewear rose lipstick used over the top.

The Doublewear range by Estee Lauder is great for wedding make-up as everything stays put, they do foundation, mascara, eye products and lip products in this range.

Last but not least Shirley rocked the “ice cream” (yes we have an ice cream-influenced design as well as a swimming hat) – all frothy frilly bits and one-shoulder wonder. This sweeter than candy floss number was from The Couture Company .

And can we just talk about the florals?!

Jeez. When Karen and Gemma from Passion For Flowers arrived with all of their crates of blooms I thought I had died and gone to hydrangea and peony heaven.

Those coral beauties are REAL people. And I know Karen was sceptical when I suggested we should mix in some daisies but I really think it worked.

And if someone is now going to have this bouquet for W-day you will make this small W-day blogger very VERY happy indeed……make sure you send me a picture (or ten)

Tomorrow we have the ridiculously gorgeous Alex and Celine as well as an RMW styled never-seen-before table scape…

Oh and the orange hoover? that was off of a man called Bill. Adam and I drove to his “lock-up” in Surrey where he then tried to flog us various items of furniture that were possibly…. dodgy.

We were a bit scared. And I managed to get my new Kurt Geiger heels stuck in a pot hole with a puddle – I then made Adam carry me fireman’s lift style to the car to avoid any other potential fashion disasters.

Who knew the W-day industry could be so…. dangerous?

See you tomorrow for more inspiration then lovelies – and please leave our brides some love in the comments box below.

  4. I want to be a layyyydddeeee too!!!!!!! This has made me just go and attempt to tidy up my messy bun in the loo! It didn’t work and now it looks doubly messy…oops.

WELL DONE GUYS! THIS IS EPIC! Your mums must be very proud.

Can I just say how much Jo looks like Natasha Beddingfield?! Pretty, pretty lady…

And that fishtail plait made my heart beat faster…

I adore the ice cream dress. Too much fun.

I have just pinged my mum the photo of the Hope and Glory flower to which she has replied: “Darling, do you remember when we were looking at that Jenny Packham gigantic flower and your dad requested that if for just one day in your life you refrain from attached something the size of a dinner plate to your bonce that your wedding day should be that day…? Well, I don’t know how he would feel if I then attached an even larger flower to my head. I mean, it’s beautiful, but I think he would be confused. And also, by then I hope to have found a hairdresser who will cut my hair like LuLus and I wouldn’t want to spoilt that.”

  5. P.S. How do you get skin like that? I am awaiting on a pot of AstaLift to arrive in the post – it apparently gives a ‘photo finish’ to skin – hopefully they mean these photos!

  6. Ladies, you look AMAZING!

Jo – your eyes! And, Amanda, the pic of you with the glasses on is gorgeous. Shirley – the plait suits your hair so much, and I am *dying * over Kelly’s pearly neckware.

This shoot just looked like so much fun! Well done everyone 🙂

  7. WOW! You all look fabulous! 🙂
Totally want the birdcage veil like the one Jo is wearing, am off to have a gander round their site now……

  9. Oh ladies that looked like an absolute blast and you all look freaking gorgeous!! those pearls, the flowers, the dresses, the killer make up… THAT HOOVER!!

I love it all and cant wait for more x

  10. Well done everybody, Erica and I had loads of fun! It was a great day and certainly an example of how rain needn’t get in the way of the photos! Love seeing it come together up here on RMW and can’t wait to see the next instalment!

  11. Wow, every single image is beautiful! Such a fantastic concept, so many details, amazing! I am loving the fishtail hair and even saw my Mum’s mixing bowl in there, oh the nostalgia! Great job, can’t wait to see lots more!

  12. Yeah – rain didn’t stop play.

All the girls look amazing, great shots by Christian and Erica Ward and amazing flowers from Gemma and Karen at Passion For Flowers.

Well done my mum too – for holding on to those old sewing machines (and those even older knitting patterns).

Although I had a (severe!!) case of man flu on the day it was an absolute ball.

My favourite part was probably the half hour I spent cleaning Bills vintage hoover on the front door step. That is sarcasm by the way.

    Adam xx

  13. Loved it in the planning stages, loved it on the day (albeit the weather!) and love it even more now I’ve seen it on screen. Well done Team RMW – you’ve rocked the wedding world again!

Your proud PR pocket rocket! 😉 xx

  14. Wow these look absolutely incredible!!!! You four all look soooooooo lush, seriously amazing.

It’s so fun knowing what was going on in the behind the scenes too when some of these were going on 🙂

I have to say the lighting in these pictures really stands out – it doesn’t look like it was an absolutely horrendous day outside when you look at these!

    Love it.

  15. WOW what an amazing shoot, gorgeous girls, dress’s, hair and AMAZING make up.

I love the styling looks like you had so much fun!

  16. OMG don’t they look fab?! I have some serious Jesus Peiro envy now…and those coral flowers are tempting me to include, you know, actual flowers in my anti-floral wedding x

  17. Girls (and Adam)… I love this shoot!!

Although I’m obviously married ‘n’ all… I’m taking serious inspiration from the hair, make up and flowers. Beautiful styling.

  18. Well for once I don’t know quite what to say!!!

Jo, Kelly and Shirley obviously look ridiculously lovely!!!!

Being paired with Jo was a delight apart from the fact she is so bloody gorgeous! I mean! Come-on! Can you see her face and then a body to die for!!! And then there were the rest of the lovely lady’s, Kelly and Shirleys AMAZING hair/face/body and you haven’t seen the others yet!!!

It truly was a fantastic day, even though it was epic-ly long!!!

As for me? I’m not sure! But I am a girl! I definitely like the last picture of me the best! I do like to pull a face in a photo!!! I also like the ones of me and Jo pretending to whisper! It’s harder then it looks to pose like that! But it was fun trying!

As for the girls! Each one is just SOOOO lovely its hard to put into words!!! It’s quite odd that we have all come from different places and different life’s and different backgrounds, yet we get on so bloody well! Seriously you couldn’t shut us up on the day!

And a MASSIVE thanks to team RMW for getting us all together!!!

p.s. it seems I had a lot to say after all!!!

  19. @Amanda – uhhhhh let me just correct you there, you look GORGEOUS in these!!! I particularly like the one with you and the teacup – you have such a determined and sexy look there! Brilliant.

  20. Ohmyactualgod…I did not know how well these pictures would turn out!!!! They look so amazing. What a fabulous team effort, I can’t gush enough.

So, the day before the shoot, I decided to dabble in a bit of spray tanning. Yes, my first ever spray tan. Once I got over the ‘having to wear JUST a pair of paper pants in front of a lady’ issue, it wasn’t so bad. Until the next morning. When I caught myself in the mirror, I got a bit of a fright. I was so…ORANGE!! Maybe it was just a bit of a shock but I was seriously perturbed and went about scrubbing myself down! Having said that, my skin doesn’t appear to have too much of a tangarine hue in the pics, although that maybe the work of the Wards’ editing skills!

And just for the record, the spary tan looked soooooo much better the following day (2 days after application) so will def stick to that plan for W.Day.

Amanda, I have to confess, I have serious jel envy over your snaps. I think you look utterly gorgeous and I seriously wish I could rock a pout like yours.

Charlotte, Adam and Lauren, your the bestest!!!!!

  21. Ohhh the strapless Alan Hannah is so my dress – love seeing it on a “real bride”! This has got me super excited for its arrival! X

  22. @Amanda, I can totally relate to how you feel about these pics – I’m not sure I actually really truly like any of the pics of me, but the first pic of you is like WOW!! You eyes stand out, your skin looks amazing and I love the oversized headpiece on you.

  23. Amanda, I too am also (almost) speechless 🙂 What an awesome day to be involved in and an AMAZING team that made it all happen!! I cannot believe I spent the morning of this shoot stuck on the side of the M5 in the pouring rain – testament to Chloe’s make up skills, Cassanda’s hairtsyling expertise and Erica & Christian’s incredible camera work! Not to mention Charlotte, Adam and Lauren’s eye for amazing style!!!!!

Shirley & Kelly, I LOVE your shots – very weird, having seen you in the ‘holding’ area, but not actually knowing what you got up to in your shoots. Gorgeous, gorgeous. Shirley, I heart the one of you at the end (beautiful smile!) and the one with the bright bouquet. Kels, the one of you blowing the hearts off the spoon is EPIC!

Amanda, I bloody loved our paired shoot. Guys, if you ever need advice on how to a) pout b) pose or c) say ‘oooh’ in a sexy manner for the camera, Amanda’s your gal 😉 Love the whispering shots!! My faves of you are the teacup one, and the glasses one (standing up). Soooooo glad we tried putting the dress over your head 😉 So funny to think that we were all giggling (inc. Darren!) whilst those last shots were being taken.

I cannot WAIT to see Celine and Alex tomorrow!! And the behind the scenes shizzle!!

Thank you RMW!! Oh, and Adam, I did offer to help you clean that hoover – I think you secretly loved squatting in the hallway in the freezing cold, with man flu 😉

    J xx

  24. Ha ha Christian – I was RUBBISH! Amanda was/is a pro at ooohing 😉

Seriously – you and Erica did an absolutely amazing job!!

    Hope you’re well 🙂

PS: @bonnyandclydedesign – Chloe McCall is an artistic genius!!! 🙂

  25. Ladies! I can’t believe you don’t all love your pictures – you look amazing, have you not got your contacts in/glasses on?!

I just came back from dinner with RMW Vix and she was like “Oh My God they all look so beautiful!!!”

    So THERE.

    Charlotte xxx

  26. Haha, well said Charlotte!!!!! Christian, agreed…there is a definate art to the “ooohhhhhh” one that I clearly didn’t have but you managed to get out of me somehow. Legends!

  27. Okay this may be one of my fave RMW shoots EVER!!!! (and I have been around a while..!) The girls look AMAZING. I love all the make up and the props!

@Amanda – you are bloody gorgeous lady – you have such a beautiful face and perfect skin!!!

Well done lovely ladies – and Charlotte and Adam!!! You rocked it!

    Rachie xo

PS: I may just be having the coral charm peonies in my bouquet – in 38 days!! Eek!!

  28. Sorry sorry you lovely bunch – only just having time to comment, just getting work sorted before two weeks off and its taking up most of my time!!!

@Charlotte Adam and now Lauren…. I love love love the RMW styled shoots but in particular the last Real Bride Shoot was fantastic…. but you hit the ball out of the park with this one. FABULOUS! I think you should do as many of these as humanly possible! (He He) They are fun, gorgeous and totally RMW.

Plus all these girlies are just awesome! 🙂

PS 8 days to go and I’m having a bouquet wobble! Bright Peonies and DAISIES! I want one… 😉

  29. @Rachie – totally agree… the colours, the style, the kitsch but cool aspect and the sheer number of brides – this has to be the best styled shoot 🙂

Oh my god they are epic! You all look soooooooo amazing and like actual real life models! You should all trade your jobs and be britains next top model….for reals!

The orangery looks so stunning, RMW and their helpers did such a fantastic job on such a pants weather day! Poor Adam with his life threatening flu….you were such a big brave soldier!

Love the pics, loved the day, love all the brides and RMW!! AMEN!

  31. Wow! What a beautiful shoot, stunning dresses, colours and flowers.

I’ve already ordered my wedding bouquets from Passion for Flowers and cant wait to see what stunning creations they make for me!
