We both loved so many different aspects to our wedding day and I thought we might have a different favourite moment but we both kept coming back to our vows. We decided to write our own vows for the ceremony and this is what Harvey was most nervous about, having to be so personal about our feelings in front of everyone, but since then we have agreed that it was just the best moment and we are so glad we wrote our own vows.Róisín & Harvey
With their beloved dog Otis making cameo appearances (albeit in figurine form) and tables named after the mountains they’ve conquered together, this wedding was all about sentimentality. Róisín even hand-drew mountainscapes for each table, proof that this bride’s talents don’t stop at planning the perfect celebration! And speaking of perfect, Róisín's bespoke morning robe was embroidered with one of her very own mountain designs. Harvey’s cufflinks were also engraved with it.
The ceremony was laced with family involvement, from flower girls and page boys with briefcases to readings and even a heart-melting FaceTime appearance from Róisín's grandparents, dialling in from home (See the bonus pic: a photo of her Grandad peeking out from under his duvet during the video call. If that doesn’t warm your heart, nothing will).
The vibe was sophisticated meets “a cosy night under the stars." Picture tuxedos and Harvey’s knockout green velvet jacket mingling with delicate lilac, pink, and white florals. Róisín's mikado gown gave subtle Snow White energy, with puff sleeves and a nod to her mum’s iconic 1980s wedding dress.
Outdoors, fire pits roared, marshmallows toasted, and indoors, soft pink chiffon draped tables for a ‘Winter meets Spring’ theme. But when the sun set, things got groovy. Literally. The Groovy Cats kicked off the evening party amid disco balls and neon signs, with Harvey’s hand-picked playlist ensuring the dancefloor stayed packed all night long.
Yet, the true showstopper was the couple’s vows, which were eerily similar (telepathy? Or just 10 years of knowing each other inside out?). Initially nervous, by the time they were reading, it was clear that these two were perfectly in sync. Cue all the tissues.
Try not to overthink planning your wedding. Your wedding day will be the most beautiful day no matter how or where you do it. Just make sure the day suits you both; your characters, your relationship together, and what makes you both smile. I wanted to make sure we came away from the day and know that it felt like us, that people would think yes, this is so Róisín and Harvey.Róisín
