Hi, we're Raini + Dave! We help plan and capture adventurous heartfelt elopements in the wilds of Scotland. (Photo + video.)

FAQS

Do you also photograph larger weddings?

I'm afraid not! We specialise in outdoor elopements + intimate weddings with a maximum of 10 guests. If a wee wild wedding surrounded by the beauty of Scotland sounds like the right start to your marriage then please do get in touch!

Will there always be two photographers?

For any elopement which is 6+ hours, you'll have both of us Rowells there - Raini + Dave. Dave either acts as the second photographer or your videographer if you choose to add this to our package. (We also offer 4-hour packages for short Edinburgh elopements where it's just Raini who photographs.)

Can you be our legal witnesses?

Yes! Absolutely - in fact, we love being able to sign our names to witness your beautiful ceremony.

What makes you a Scotland elopement specialist?

Having grown up in Scotland - I've been exploring its nooks and crannies my whole life, meaning we can get off the beaten path to find moments of solitude and seek out hidden gems. I'm also deeply passionate about preserving the cultural heritage of Scottish marriages and invite you to share in our beautiful customs in an authentic and sensitive way. And lastly, leaving no trace is an important part of how I work - I seek to leave nature in a better state than I found it and we plant a new tree in the Scottish Highlands for every couple we photograph.

Testimonials

Having our photos done by Raini and Dave was like having two professional photographers who also happened to be old friends (even though we had never met before). They were calm and sensitive to what we wanted and how we were feeling. We felt so comfortable and reassured by them. It was lovely having them as company as it was just the two of us eloping. Raini did a short mindfulness exercise with us on the day which helped us connect with the moment and each other. We felt like Raini and Dave blended seamlessly into our intimate elopement and were such an important part of it. They laughed and cried along with us and shared our joy and love, and we felt like we had found two long lost friends who we had known forever. Raini was more than just an "on the day" wedding/elopement photographer, she was so supportive and sensitive with lots of good advice on eloping. At first we were nervous about just the two of us at an elopement being photographed all day. It was so important to find people we felt comfortable with. We got to know Raini in the lead up to the elopement and really felt comfortable and happy around her. Raini listened to our hopes and wants and created the perfect itinerary for us weaving in some beautiful ideas and Scottish traditions she had suggested to us. Raini and Dave also travelled out of their way to explore our venue as we were not able to visit beforehand. Raini is not only an extremely talented photographer but also the organisational Goddess you need for an elopement!! We absolutely love our photos and our wedding film. They really capture the essence of the day so perfectly which was so important to be able to share with our friends and family as we had no guests at our elopement but still wanted to capture the special moments to share with our loved ones. People keep telling us they are the most beautiful wedding photos they have ever seen and we have to agree that Raini and Dave are very talented! For other couples looking for a photographer, we think being comfortable with the people you are working with and feeling a trust in them is so important. Raini and Dave were those people for us and we would recommend them to anyone wanting an elopement or couples shoot.

Let me start off by saying you WANT to hire Raini AND Dave as your photographer and videographer for your elopement. 12/10 would recommend. They were absolutely amazing leading up to, during, and after the wedding. Our wedding planner became somewhat obsolete because Raini and Dave did so much in helping us prepare for our elopement. Leading up to the wedding day, they actually went above and beyond what we were expecting. As Americans traveling to Scotland for the first time were worried about some of our location options not being good places to photograph at since there wasn’t a lot of pictures online. Raini and Dave were in the area we were going to get married in a few weeks before and offered to take photos of each location and send them to us! That was awesome, but they took it a step further and gave us information about how busy each location was as well as which would photograph best. They put our minds at ease as well as helped us pick our location. Now I am not the type to take a lot of photos and one thing I love about Raini and Dave was that I didn’t have to go through a bunch of poses. It was all very natural and easy to do! They just took photos as we went and that was great for my Husband and I because we get awkward when we have to pose. As far as the elopement day Clay and I were very nervous at first when Raini and Dave showed up but they put both of us at ease pretty quickly and by the end of our adventure it was like we had known Dave and Raini for years! They are amazing people to be around and our elopement day could not have been better even if we tried! Raini literally helped my husband and his best man get ready by folding the pocket squares for them (by watching a YouTube tutorial I might add. Absolutely awesome). Everything went perfect and I think that was in large part because of how awesome Raini and Dave are at elopement photography!!! The only thing I regret is not bringing them to dinner as a thank you with my elopement party afterward because they fit so well with everyone. We went on a hike after our elopement ceremony with Dave and Raini and I would shout this from the rooftops: IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING THING CLAY AND I COULD HAVE EVER DONE!!!! YOU SHOULD 100% DO THIS WITH THEM!!! On their suggestion we went to a place called Steall Falls. It was a place we considered going during our honeymoon but it was lower on our list and we weren’t going to have time to do it. We went with their suggestion on the hike after our ceremony and I am so thankful we did! Thanks to their local knowledge of the area we went hiking to a beautiful waterfall and crossed a rope bridge to get to it all in our wedding attire and it was absolutely amazing and we got to do it with two amazing people who felt like great friends by this point. I loved how excited Raini and Dave were to have this wonderful adventure with me and I feel like I made two great friend by the end of my wonderful day. Clay and I were worried about only the best moments being captured and not the whole day as it was. To clay and me, the most important thing for us was to capture the day as it was and not the highlights. Raini and Dave took photos and video of everything and really captured the entire day so that we can remember the beautiful day for the rest of our lives and not just the highlights. Any recommendation Raini and Dave have you should definitely consider doing, because the hike was Raini’s idea and it could not have been any better! Clay and I wanted to start our life together out on an adventure and Raini was able to see that and give us exactly what we wanted and one of the greatest memories Clay and I have in our 6 years together.

It’s so hard to trust a photographer with an elopement or wedding, especially when you’re not from the country they’re in! Raini and her husband Dave blew us out of the water. They are the best photographers I have ever gotten to work with. They are organized, fun but professional, down for a little adventure, and just the kindest people. They captured all of our special moments all while making us so comfortable. When we tell our friends and family about our big day we always say that these people we had never really met before made it so much more special. Our elopement wouldn’t have been as amazing had we went through different photographers and officiant. We are forever grateful we found them!

Raini and Dave are so talented and such wonderful human beings we cannot recommend booking them more! I had followed Raini on instagram before we were even engaged and knowing we wanted to elope it was her beautiful photos that had our hearts firmly on Glencoe. From the first call to the day itself Raini was incredible offering us help, guidance and support throughout the entire planning process with what we needed to do, recommended suppliers and location suggestions when we visited prior to the wedding. We opted for a pre wedding shoot in Edinburgh to ease our nerves about having our photos taken and the whole experience was perfect, we had such a wonderful time and we will cherish the photos forever. On the day of our elopement we had yellow weather warning storms, Raini and Dave were amazing and flexible helping us rearrange the timeline to avoid a very wet ceremony. The day was so much fun and felt like we’re were celebrating and having a day out with friends we had known for years, all our nerves around having our photos taken were gone. We were in such a daze on the day we forgot our coats and Raini and Dave even lent us their dry robes when the heavens opened. They go above and beyond in every capacity and create the most beautiful art in the process. Our photos are all over our house and we watch our beautiful wedding film weekly. The photos and video were the most important thing to us and we are so glad we chose Raini and Dave, I honestly cannot recommend them more!
