Mizz Rio

As a plus size bride, I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have come across Mizz Rio in my research of places to visit when choosing my dress. By the time I reached out to Mags I had already been to a traditional bridal boutique for curvy women and while I had a nice experience, none of the dresses made me feel like myself and I really worried that I might have to settle on the best of the bunch. Mags reassured me that so such compromise would need to be made. I felt immediately at ease during my initial appointment with Mags. Surprisingly she had dresses for me to try on and really seemed to get me and my style (before I was even sure!). There was zero pressure to make any decisions on the day. So to make sure, I visited another traditional bridal store after this and learned a lot about what I liked and didn’t. I took these points to Mags, who then drew up a sketch of the dress and once I was happy- I gave the green light! A few months later, I tried my on for the first time and it was near perfect. I met with the Mizz Rio team and their recommended seamstress who made a few tweaks. I the brought my dress home on the next visit and felt like my best self on my wedding day!

I am not sure of where to start , but the start is usually a good place. Since losing my mam 10 years ago I always dreaded my wedding day without her, but more so wedding dress shopping without her by side. From they very early days of wedding planning I knew I wasn’t going to do the whole traditional wedding dress shopping as it would just highlight her absence to me. I also knew I wanted a custom made dress as I had a very clear idea of what I wanted and I knew I wouldn’t find it in a shop on a rail. I came across Miz Rio’s Instagram’s page just before lock down and very quickly became obsessed with her stories and stalking her content. I instantly new it had to be Mags that would help me design and bring to reality the dress of my dreams. From the very first message I sent her on Instagram we instantly connected and I knew she just got me. When I met Mags I quickly picked up that she gets everyone when it comes to individual fashion choices, its her gift! One of my favourite things about Mags is how she really encourages you to follow your heart with your ideas and style and really boosts your confidence in every aspect of your big day , down to insecurities you might have around your body or any other choices you are making, she is all about you feeling yourself on your wedding day and not just following the rules , she is a real breath of fresh air and will do whatever it takes to make sure you get the dress of your dreams! There is a lot of pressure around wedding dress shopping to have the big “yes to the dress” day and all the fuss that comes with it and not much hype around the women who don’t have their mams with them or may not want this for other reasons. I came to Mags on my own to every appointment , apart from picking up my dress. I thoroughly enjoyed every chat , laugh, cry , and every bit of the decision making process, even the little bumps along the way, I wouldn’t change a thing. I can only describe it as a special kind of magic. Mags has such a lovely, warm and genuine down to earth personality that really adds to service she provides and helps keeps you calm and grounded throughout the madness of the whole wedding planning process. She goes above and beyond her job and what you pay for and you can really feel how passionate she is about what she does. She really wants you to leave her studio feeling 100% happy and that is exactly what I done. I will be forever grateful to Mags for taking the sting out of wedding dress shopping without my mam and turning the whole process into something I enjoyed more than I could have ever imagined. I think every bride to be should send Mags that first message and let the rest of the magic happen, I can promise you, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Mags, you are one of a kind.
