If you like your weddings full of pretty pink and blush details then you’re going to love Anna & Andy’s big day from the romantic Newton Hall. We’re loving the aisle lined with lanterns and petals and of course the giant A&A lights from Coco Luminaire.
Anna looks breathtaking in one of Rock My Wedding’s favourite designers, Ian Stuart. Her gown is a gorgeous honey colour, which compliments the blush tones used in the decor perfectly and lends a slightly vintage feel to the day, which is very much in keeping with the venue.
Anna The Bride: We knew we wanted our wedding to be relaxed, fairly informal and most of all a blummin’ good party! So when we first saw Newton Hall we knew it could provide just the sort of wedding we wanted. We loved it the minute we walked in, it was beautiful and a little quirky and the perfect size for the number of guests we had mind. We loved the setting with views over the hills and the fact it would be exclusively ours for the day was a real selling point. We also loved the fact the venue had Spotify, so we could create a playlist for the day and have it played throughout all the function areas. We knew if it rained we would be happy to stay inside the pretty bar and reception room after the service, so that was reassuring too. However as it happened the sun shone and we all got to go outside and have some drinks after the service and during the photos.
We saw the light up letters by Coco Luminaire at the open day and knew we had to have them, they were a real centre piece and looked amazing at the venue. Once we had our venue booked, we wanted to try and ensure our wedding was in keeping with the venue. It has a slightly vintage feel, so I aimed for that kind of look with my flowers and finishing touches. Newton hall as a very distinctive style of decor, so I knew I wanted to keep the flowers simple so as to compliment it. So we had soft pink and cream roses and little jars with some with pink water, with simple posies in scattered round the venue.
Once I had my dress, it narrowed down the colour range of my bridesmaids as it had to be something which toned in, so I opted for dusty pink full length dresses, which all the girls suited even though some are blond and some brunette. They all looked fabulous!
The dusty pink theme ran through the whole wedding and featured on the invites (which Andy designed), the chair bows, the table centres, rose petals on the aisle etc. Andy created the table plan too and we named our tables after famous duos which meant something to us, for example Jesse and Walt from Breaking Bad and put photos of them in frames on the tables, rather than just their names. We also had vintage birdcages, following through the them, with tealights in votives which created a cosy look once it began to get dark.
I love fizz and Andy loves JD so mini versions of each became our favours, with a little label with our names on for guests to keep. We didn’t opt for cloths on the tables as we loved the wood tables as they were and were really in keeping with the vintage theme.
Andy decided fairly early on, after considering grey that he wanted a navy suit, so I knew the colours would all tone in and the gents could have dusty pink ties and pocket squares to tone in with the ladies. Andy also was keen to have a more modern slim fit suit so he bought this and the gents suits rather than hiring them.
We chose music which meant something to us both for the service including Nella Fantasia to walk down the aisle to and Hotel California to sign the register. We also asked my cousin’s band, The Despardos, to play at our evening reception, as we knew they would really get the party started! Music means a lot to use both so this was something we really wanted to get just right!
We opted for good hearty food to ensure people were well fed and had a “bit of sparkle” for one of our courses, sorbet, midori, gin and prosecco which got people in the mood for dancing!
We were quite organised with most things but didn’t have a photographer, so we attended a wedding fair at Durham Cricket Ground and met Alice from Rowan Coombs Photography. We took to Alice straight away and her relaxed style and the look she created seemed to really fit with our theme. Alice was great, she took some amazing natural photos, capturing perfectly the memories from our day. All the planning and preparation made for the perfect day and we just wish we could do it all again!
