Cary & James

Cary & James married on a sunny and very warm day in beautiful Tuscany at Fattoria di Larniano. The scenery is stunning and just takes your breath away. I think this wedding sums up exactly why so many Brides love to marry in Italy. The weather, the food, the magical venues, the laid back approach – everything seems to be centred around having a good time with family and friends.

The celebrations started the evening before the wedding with a wood-fired pizza making party. (I know, how much fun would that be?!?) Which also happened to be the groom’s birthday. Double celebrations!! And double al-fresco dining opportunities! We’d so love to be eating at a crisp white linen covered table under the Italian sunshine right now, followed by an afternoon dip in the pool…

The Fashion & accessories

Cary The Bride: I chose Karen Reilly based on the recommendation by my hairdresser, she is well reputed in Bristol for bridal wear. I had a clear vision of the style I wanted which we then developed together over 12 months. My head dress had a real sentimental value as it belonged to my late Grandma, Elsie, who married my Grandad, David, in Bristol on 18 November 1939. James’s choice was simple, he Just really liked the blue suit from Paul Smith

The Venue

We really wanted a wedding that would enable us to spend as much time with our guests as possible. We knew how quickly the wedding would fly by so having 3 days with our guests was great. We wanted something that would be memorable and where our guests could relax too. We chose a venue where everyone could be accommodated within walking distance of the venue to avoid the need for travel once there and again allowing us to spend as much time with our guests as possible.

Italy seemed liked the obvious choice for its unrivalled reputation of great food and wine. The picturesque setting of the vineyard and beautiful views of Tuscany made it a perfect setting.

The Colour Scheme & Decor

We initially chose to have my grandparents’ wedding photo to show the headdress that I was wearing on my wedding day. We then thought it would be a nice idea to remember all of our friends and family’s wedding day by showcasing their photos too. We chose a lemon colour theme for the tables. I specifically wanted pastel pink florals, I love peonies and with them being in season I was happy to have them. For my bridesmaid I really liked the style of the dress and the lemon colour which then also became the colour theme for the tables.

The Ceremony

We chose a beautiful outdoor spot which was particularly suitable due to the shade of the trees and the beautiful views of the Tuscan country side. We wanted to use different areas of the wedding venue throughout to make the most of the beautiful venue.

The Entertainment

We love cocktails and making cocktails so decided to incorporate this into our day by having a his and hers cocktail bar table which went down really well with our guests. Our friend/James’ Bestman kindly offered to do the music for us. We chose our favourite songs and ones that would guarantee to get everyone dancing.

The Food

Italian cuisine is one of our favourite foods. We chose the menu and canapés on a pre-visit to Tuscany. We tried to opt for specialities from the region to give people a taste of Tuscany.

The Photographer

Cristina Rossi was recommended by a colleague but also I liked Cristina’s documentary style of capturing the day. We quickly built a rapport when we first spoke by telephone.
