Finding Your Wedding Vibe

At the end of last year I attended a fabulous wedding planning course, Planning Redefined, hosted by the incredible Katrina Otter of Katrina Otter Weddings & Lisa Johnson of Carmela Weddings (more about that here). The final day of the workshop was all about creating a styled shoot. Today we’re sharing the beautiful images with you all but also discussing the importance of styled wedding content for the industry. Kat & Lisa had invited Sundari & Andri (The Wedding Stylist & Always Andri Wedding Design) to talk to students about how to create a styled shoot and where to draw influences from. The answers being 1. be super organised and 2. from everywhere that inspires you 😉

But in all seriousness, whether you’re dreaming of becoming a wedding planner or stylist, or whether you’re planning your own wedding and hoping to create a visually stunning day – there’s something for everyone to learn below…

Wisteria by Hannah Duffy Pin Image

In Wisteria Heaven

I’m yet to find a single person who doesn’t have a soft spot for wisteria, they don’t use the term #wisteriahysteria for any old reason you know – there’s method in the madness. Scientists have actually proven that wisteria is so beautiful it’s addictive to share it Instagram…or something like that 😉

Photography Hannah Duffy has captured our combined love for this stunning trailing bloom to perfection in this shoot from The Hotel Felix in Cambridge. Keeping all the other details very simple and in muted tones lets the grandeur of the venue shine through. And if you love the Naomi Neoh dress, we shared Naomi’s latest collection earlier this week, so do check it out. After you’ve lost yourself in the wisteria of course.

Jenny & Paddy

All I can say is WOW Jenny & Paddy, your desire to have a reception that has never been used before and a vision SO strong has resulted in an absolutely immense rustic wedding at Grove Barn in the Vale of Belvoir, Nottinghamshire.

The attention to detail is unbelievable, including tractors, wooden crates, diggers, hay bales, oil drums, lanterns, tree stumps and so much more. The table plan with its baby portraits of guests is absolutely genius, as is the styling of all these elements. The farmer of the barn was so impressed he now hires out the venue for wedding and events.

Can we also just take a moment to swoon over Jenny’s Charlie Brear Peyton Dress and Augustine Skirt. Soo pretty. We also absolutely loved hearing that Jenny & Paddy found recommended supplier Hannah Duffy through our very pages, and I just know this delightful day and photography will go on to inspire others.

Eleanor & James

This morning’s wedding has a special place in my heart for two reasons; the first being ‘literature’ – a theme that Eleanor and James cleverly weaved through every element of their wedding decor from their stationery through to their wedding cake. Honestly it looks the bees knees and speaks to the bibliophile in me and I’m sure will make plenty of you smile too.

The second is the pair’s approach and attitude to their wedding day – their determination to do things ‘their way’ but also to avoid becoming Bridezillas in the process resulting in a day full of joy and laughter for their family and friends.

And it doesn’t hurt that Eleanor’s dress is to die for and the boys look dapper in their tweed get-ups and that there are oodles of decorative details that you’ll just want to pin as well. Oh and that picture of the gorgeous duo walking through the blossom filled apple orchard? SWOON!
