FAQS
What can I expect when commissioning a bespoke dress from Dandelions & Pearls?
I believe that finding your wedding dress should be a fun and stress free one, inclusive to all and have created an intimate and laidback space, as an alternative to the traditional wedding dress shopping experience. My aim is to empower every bride to be their true authentic self and have the confidence to wear whatever they want on their wedding day. The whole process of having a wedding outfit designed and created especially for you is an exciting collaborative journey. You’ll be made to feel valued and special while being involved in every step of its creation.
How does the bespoke process work?
The bespoke journey begins with an initial design consultation, either at our studio, or virtually. This is when I take the time to really get to know all about you and your wedding plans. You’ll have the chance to try on a selection of our sample gowns, bridal jumpsuits and separates. Any of our designs can be customised to your liking - So you could take elements from different designs to create something unique, or we can work together to design something from scratch that is truly bespoke. After an informal chat, I’ll take your ideas and translate them into a series of sketches for you to choose from. All of our bespoke pieces are made to measure. After a design has been finalised a pattern will be drafted to your exact measurements and a series of prototypes are created so that we can perfect the fit and make any tweaks to the design, resulting in a garment which flatters your body shape and fits you perfectly.
Do I need to provide the fabric for my bespoke bridal outfit?
No, I have an extensive selection of fabric samples for you to browse. From exquisite laces and modern embroideries, to frothy tulles and sumptuous silks, as well as a range of sustainable fabrics for all our environmentally conscious babes. However if you already have a fabric in mind I’d be happy to take a look at it and if it’s suitable, design your dream outfit around it.
How is your bridal wear ethically produced and kind to the environment?
All of my designs are expertly hand crafted by myself in my Devon atelier. Because I make items bespoke to each individual client, I only ever order enough fabric for each project meaning there is very little waste. What fabric scraps are left over I try to reuse in other products such as bridal accessories and what I can’t use I send to a ROC creative, local charity who work with disabled adults for craft projects. I also try to use a small number of U.K. fabric suppliers and have a range of fully sustainable and vegan fabric options available for clients to choose from.
When should I get in touch and start the bespoke process?
I’d say 12 months before you’re due to get married is a really good time to start the bespoke process. We can do it in a minimum of 3 months, depending on my schedule, but I wouldn’t suggest leaving it that late if you can at all help it. Handcrafting luxury bespoke bridal wear takes a great deal of time, requiring patients and skill which can’t be rushed, so I only ever take on a limited number commissions each year and my bespoke diary can get booked up quite quickly. That’s why I say it’s really never too early to get in touch so we can start planning your dream wedding outfit. And if you’re not quite ready to commit to an exact design, but you have your heart set on wearing a Dandelions & Pearls creation on your big day, you can pay a small booking fee to secure your wedding date in my bespoke diary.
