Inspiration

This DIY boho wedding finished with macrame hanging plant decor, is the perfect contrast to the industrial wedding venue at the Peddler Warehouse in Sheffield. Alice and Anthony used our Recommended supplier, The Wedding Shop for their gift list service and also got those divine orange bridesmaid dresses from Rewritten Bridesmaids, another Recommended supplier. You're not going to want to miss the fun and unique details in this wedding from local suppliers and friends and family.

DIY macrame hanging plant decor

Our venue was a large warehouse. It was an amazing blank canvas but needed a lot of decorating to make it feel fit for a wedding. To make things more affordable and stay within the budget, most of our decor was DIY. We handmade over 50 macrame hanging baskets, as well as the napkins and macrame napkin ties. We collected the stoneware jars and gathered dried grasses for the table flowers ourselves.

Macrame Hanging Plant Decor

The venue was a large warehouse in one of Sheffield's oldest manufacturing sites. The couple wanted to maintain that industrial character, but add contrasting bohemian elements like lots of hanging macrame plants and other innovative details. The couple's favourite moment was walking into the venue for the first time and being amazed at how it looked. They had both set it up but hadn’t seen the final result with all the hanging baskets and flower clouds in place, so it was a special moment walking in and seeing how the vision had come to life. We want to give those DIY hanging plant decorations a go ourselves (wish us luck)! The couple also got a close friend to help DIY a dessert table. If we were invited to this wedding, we would've been milling around those delicious sweet treats.

Vibe

The vibes for this wedding were a combination of industrial and boho with plenty of neutrals and rust tones as well as some French touches, which is a reference to France where Alice lived for a while. There were also details that connected to Sheffield as they used local suppliers. It ended up being a big celebration in a warehouse in the heart of the city. The burnt orange and neutral colour palette as seen with those standout bridesmaid dresses are EVERYTHING! Plus that Maggie Sottero wedding dress also deserves a mention. Other fun details that need to be mentioned are the bagpipe entertainment and the wedding guests arriving at the venue in a vintage double-decker bus. But a magical and special moment was when Alice and Anthony left the venue through a tunnel of sparklers.

Don’t miss that yummy dessert table!

Be clear upfront on your priorities for the day. You will inevitably have to make compromises along the way, so it helps to know what aspects of the wedding (whether that be the food, entertainment, or decor) are most important to you. Design a day which YOU will enjoy and reflects you as a couple.
