Midnight in Paris.

Happy new year lovelies, and welcome to our shiny new blog!

Later this afternoon we’ll be explaining all about our new features and the inspiration behind the design but to ease you back into what will be for most the first day back at work…..we thought we’d deliver to your screens a fashion feast.

Cecile and Kevin were married in Paris at midnight in September. The bride wore a bespoke designer gown with a feather detail sleeve (yes – I die) and the groom wore Givenchy.

The theme was pink and blue…right down to the guests who were asked to dress accordingly.

Christine and Xander from Navyblur were there to capture all of the shimmer, the sophistication and the sexy.

Oh la la.

Simple Yet Elegant

Cecile The Bride: My dress was created for me by Laurent Kapelski, a French wedding dress designer. I wanted something very simple yet elegant with very nice fabric and couldn’t find that in shops, so I decided to look for someone to create the dress, and I found Laurent Kapelski, he was great at listening what I wanted, but sill giving his advice on what would be nice for my figure.

The first appointment we had, I knew it was going to be great, he showed me a few fabrics and skirts and top together so I can imagine myself in something very voluminous or not, just to be sure I was sure of my choice, then he designed the dress. We had 5 appointments and it was great to see my dress getting closer and closer to the final one. I was very happy with my dress at the end and really felt comfortable in it.

The Extras

Because I already had feathers on my dress, I didn’t want to wear something else that would ruin the look, So I only wore my engagement ring and my mom’s ring.

I had Jimmy Choo shoes. I already wore them for the first part of my wedding in February and I was so comfy, and beautiful I wanted to keep them, and I was so right about that, I was able to wear my 11cm heels all day and night long!

Beauty By Bridesmaids

I was lucky to have a hairdresser girlfriend and one of my friends is really good at doing make up! I chose them, because I knew it was going to look great and also because I knew I wanted to stay at the same place with my bridesmaid throughout the preparation.

It was a great part of the wedding and I feel so grateful to have such nice friends.

Pom Pom Blooms

I’m not really a flower type of girl, so I wanted a bouquet, but without flowers, Because our theme was pink and blue, I found very bright pink wool and decided to go for a pompom bouquet.

Oh La La

In France, it’s not very usual to ask bridesmaids and groomsmen to wear the same outfit and we wanted them to feel comfortable. So we only asked the girl to find either a pink or blue dress, and for the boys, a light blue shirt.

Kevin wore a Givenchy suit, with a made to measure shirt from Swann and Oscar, his shoes were Hugo Boss. He also had a small pink cloud as a buttonhole!

Will You Come To Paris?

After the first part of our wedding we decided we wanted two photographers, and I couldn’t stop thinking of Xander and Christine the two amazing photographers from NavyBlur. It was already only a few months before the wedding and we decided to contact NavyBlur to ask whether they would come to Paris for our wedding…

We were very lucky that the date was still free and they were very enthusiastic about coming! It was one of the best choice we made for our wedding. Our pictures are amazing, and all our family and friends can’t stop telling how great the pictures are, and how nice the photographers were (without even speaking French!)

Sweet Extra’s

We decided to go for cupcakes and cookies instead of a traditional cake. We wanted something pretty and small, so we could offer several different varieties to guests.

We had a DJ and it was really a good choice, he was really good at keeping people on the dancefloor and we danced all night long thanks to him!

Cha Cha Cha

I let my dad choose the first dance. He’s a good dancer and I just asked for something “happy” that could make the party start. My dad taught us how to dance the cha cha and half of the song was me dancing with my dad, and the last half with my husband.

The song was sway from the Pussy Cat Dolls!

Pink And Blue

We had a pink and blue dresscode for the guest, so all the décor was pink and blue. We had a night ceremony with lots of candles.

We loved every part of our wedding, but I think what was the best for us, was to see how much loved we are by our family and friends.

The Best Surprises

All the ceremony was organized by my brother and groomsmen and bridesmaid, we only prepared vows for the end of the ceremony, and we cried the whole time. They also prepared a flashmob with all our guests dancing and it was a total surprise. We are very lucky to have such amazing friends and family and of course lucky to have each other…

So give space for your family and friends to surprise you, it will be even better to be surprised by your day!

Our best advice would be to choose very good photographer, we are so happy with our pictures and we feel so beautiful in them. These are pictures we can keep all our life so we can remember how great the day was!

  3. erm…a pom pom bouquet?? Clearly I am in love with this wedding. The photography is some of my favourite as well.

Cecile looks incredible. The hair and the dress are such a perfect combo.

I’d also quite like a night time ceremony next time I get married (to the same man obvs)

    Love Love Love

  4. A flashmob! What an utterly immense wedding – I want to run off and get married again in Paris.

Have you seen Cecile’s eyes?! Aren’t they just gorgeous.

My favourite image though is of Cecile and Kevin when they’re dancing – now that’s a kiss!

  5. @Philipa – Lolly’s wedding was “Country Casual” and was so much fun – I like attire instruction as a guest (as long as it wasn’t wear a onesie/something really obscure/difficult to get hold of!)

  6. OMactualG I love this so much – the frock! The feathers! The candles! The nighttime! The smooch! Happy New Year everyone!x

  7. @Charlotte – LOVED your outfit for Lolly’s wedding. We’re giving guests a ‘to the nines’ dress code, however I might regret that after my SIL’s fella informed me over the holidays that he was going to wear a purple crushed velvet flared suit (completely seriously)

Right, now it’s lunchtime I can have a good look at this new blog of yours. I’m enjoying the overall pared down, softer look so far and the new little touches!! My old pensioners eyes are going to have to get used to the wiggly handwritten font – I do love it though!

    Bravo gang, a triumph! x

  8. What what what @Charlotte @ Karen – I MISSED @Lolly ‘s wedding!? was it on here!?!?!?! Noooooo

    Pom pom bouquet.. dies.

    Love the modern spots guys!

  9. @Jo Li… not yet – I’m just recalling Charlottes instag of her super cool outfit from the morning of Lolly’s big day! xx

  10. Too honoured to have one of our awesome bride’s and groom’s grace the very first page of your gorgeous new site! HIGH FIVE to the bigger and better image sizes, WOOHOO to the quirky squiggly font and YES to the decision to re-brand even though it wasn’t making you unsuccessful… this is a totally beautiful new direction for RMW and we’re excited to see it grow in 2013!
