FAQS
Can we have our ceremony anywhere?
Yes! One of the many benefits of a celebrant-led ceremony is that there are no restrictions, so you can get married anywhere and at any time. On the beach at sunrise? Yes please. Midday in your parents' back garden. Definitely. Twilight in the woods? Absolutely. Sunset on top of a hill? I'll grab my hiking boots.
We want to include a symbolic ritual or a unity ceremony. Can we do this?
Absolutely! There are so many ways to make your ceremony personal to you, and a great way to do this is to include a symbolic unity ceremony. You can literally "tie the knot" with a handfasting, you could jump the broom, do a sand blending or a unity candle ceremony, or you could even include a cocktail mixing ceremony. The possibilities are endless here, and your creativty is the limit. I have loads of ideas I can share with you wen we plan your ceremony together.
Is a celebrant-led ceremony legally binding?
Not at the moment, but there are people working very hard to try and change this. Currently, couples need to go to the register office (people usually do this in the week before their ceremony with me) and do the legal bit. This costs £50-£60, and involves saying two sentences and signing the paperwork. You can save all the meaningful elements such as ring and vow exchanges, symbolic elements, readings, music, etc, for your celebrant-led ceremony with all your family and friends.
How many ceremonies a day do you do?
Just yours! I only do one ceremony per day, which means you will have my full and undivided attention on your wedding day, and I won't be worrying about having to dash off to get to my next ceremony.
Will you travel for my wedding?
Definitely! I'm very portable and I'll go wherever a good love story takes me. I'm based in Manchester and Cheshire, and mainly conduct weddings in the North West, but I'll happily travel across the UK and beyond. Travel is included in my fee up to 40 miles from my home address, after which, travel is charged at 50p per mile.
Can we meet you before we book?
Of course! I always offer couples a completely free, no-obligation chat before you make any decisions. Depending on where you're based, we can either meet for a coffee or a drink, or we can have a natter via video call. This is so you can ask me any questions you might have, and to make sure that we're made for each other.
